Final

I chose to do a comicbook-like scene for a painting (acrylic on canvas). It is a commentary on the drama of the general comic, and I experimented with pixelation in the foreground, just how comics were made in the past.

"Kill Your Darlings"

The Artist I chose, Robert Longo, did a piece called "Kill Your Darlings." He enjoyed using mixed media to represent political issues, and also usually included popular media in his works.

Historical Context Piece

The artist I chose, Robert Longo, created art mainly in the 80's, during the Space Race. He usually referenced popular media at  the time, along with politics, and used mixed media. My piece references the popular 1980's film The Breakfast Club, to show how the U.S. and Russia were dancing/racing to the moon during the Space Race.
